Who we are
WovenFable is published by Fifty Oars Interactive LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Fifty Oars Interactive LLC.
Questions about your privacy go to privacy@fiftyoarsinteractive.com. Our mailing address is 110 16th St Ste 1460, Denver, CO 80202.
What we collect, and why
We collect only what WovenFable needs to work.
Your account
- Your email address. You sign in with a link or code we email you, so we need it to let you in and to send you story updates.
- Your display name. We start you with a placeholder such as “Writer 1a2b3c”, and you can change it on your profile.
- The badges you earn, such as for starting a story or finishing one.
- When you created your account.
Your writing
- Stories you start: the title, genre, premise and settings.
- The parts you write. If you touch up a part after others have built on it, the edit replaces the earlier text publicly; we keep the earlier version privately, only to measure the size of your edits.
- Drafts of stories you haven’t started yet.
- Story outlines: notes, characters and roadmap items, and outline suggestions you make to a story’s owner.
Sharing and invites
- Email addresses you enter to invite someone to write the next part.
- Email addresses of readers you add to a private story.
- Share links you create for a private story.
Activity
- Turn timing: when you claim a turn, when you submit it, and whether you extended it or were sent a reminder.
- Flair you give and receive, including any short message with it.
Feedback
If you send us feedback, we store your message, its category, an optional name and other way to reach you, and whether we may contact you. We also store your account email and display name with it, and email a copy of it all to our team.
Emails we send
We keep a queue of the emails we send: who each one is to, what kind it is, and the details it needs, such as a story’s title or an invite link.
Service logs
Our hosting and database providers keep logs of requests to WovenFable, which include IP addresses, to run and secure the service. They include sign-in logs: each sign-up, sign-in and request for a sign-in link or code is logged with your email address and IP address. Supabase keeps its logs, including these sign-in logs, for 1 day. Vercel keeps its request logs for 1 hour.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t sell your writing, license it to others, or use it to train AI.
- Our fonts are served by WovenFable itself, not loaded from a font service.
Cookies and browser storage
- Sign-in cookies. Supabase, our sign-in provider, sets cookies that keep you signed in.
- Browser storage. Your browser remembers your light or dark theme, whether you read stories as a page or as a book, and the page you were on in a book. These stay on your device and are never sent to us.
We don’t use cookies for advertising or tracking.
Who can see what
- Public stories can be read by anyone, signed in or not, while they are being written and after. Finished public stories are listed in our sitemap so search engines can find them.
- Invite-only stories can be read by their owner and writers while they are being written. Once finished, anyone with the story’s link can read them. They aren’t listed in the sitemap.
- Private stories can be read only by their owner and writers, readers the owner adds by email, and anyone the owner gives a share link to.
- Your display name appears next to the parts you write, and on flair you give. Your display name, your badges and the date you joined can be seen by anyone.
- On a public story, the current text of each part is public, along with the flair on it and any flair messages.
- Your email address is never shown next to your writing. A story’s owner can see the addresses invited to write in or read their story.
Services we use
These companies process information for us so WovenFable can run:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in, hosted in the United States (us-east-1).
- Vercel: hosting for the website.
- Resend: delivery of the emails WovenFable sends: sign-in links and codes, as well as invites and story updates.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: a check on the sign-in page that tells people from bots. It runs Cloudflare’s script in your browser.
If we start selling extras, a payment company will handle your payment details. We will never see your card number.
How long we keep things
- We keep your information for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, we erase it as described below. The parts you wrote in other people’s stories stay, without your name.
- The “account deleted” confirmation is removed from our email queue as soon as it’s sent. Every other email in the queue, including emails to people without an account and our queued copy of feedback sent to our team, is deleted 90 days after it was created, once it has been sent or we’ve stopped trying to send it. It goes sooner if the account it was sent to is deleted, or, for feedback, the account of the person who sent it.
Your choices
- Change your display name on your profile at any time.
- Make small touch-up edits to parts you’ve submitted.
- Delete your account in the app, or by email (see below).
- Ask for a copy of your information, or for a correction, by emailing privacy@fiftyoarsinteractive.com.
We reply to every privacy request within 30 days.
Deleting your account
Go to your profile, choose Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. If you can’t sign in, email privacy@fiftyoarsinteractive.com from the address on your account, and we’ll delete it within 30 days. Deletion can’t be undone.
Here is what happens:
- Your parts stay in shared stories, credited to “a former writer”. A chain story is everyone’s work, so removing your parts would break other people’s writing.
- Stories you started pass on to the earliest writer in the chain who still has an account, and we email them to say so.
- Stories only you wrote are deleted.
- If everyone else who wrote in a story you started has already left, the story stays as it is, and its settings can no longer be changed.
- A turn you’re holding is released so the next writer can go. Your drafts and outline suggestions that are still waiting are deleted, and invites you sent that nobody has used are cancelled.
- Flair you gave stays on the story, without your name.
- We erase your email address, display name, badges, the feedback you sent (with our queued copy of it) and the emails queued for you. We also remove you from the reader lists of private stories and from any workspaces, erase the email addresses on invites you sent or received. Our providers’ logs, including sign-in logs, expire on their own schedule (see “Service logs”). Copies of your feedback already emailed to our team are kept in our team inbox until you ask us to delete them; email privacy@fiftyoarsinteractive.com to ask.
- Emails we’ve already sent or queued to other people because of something you did, such as an invite you sent, a part you wrote or edited, flair you gave, or a revision you asked for, keep your display name as it was then. That includes our own copies of them in the email queue, until they’re deleted after 90 days.
- We send one last email to confirm your account was deleted.
Age
WovenFable is not for children under 13. If you’re 13 to 17, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission to use it. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change matters, we email members before it takes effect.
